May Crowning Honors Our Lady

Although a  May Crowning is often celebrated on May 1 as a Catholic tradition, it can occur any time during the month. On Friday, May 18 the students, faculty and parents of SJA gathered at the Grotto of our  Blessed Mother outside of St. John the Baptist Church to honor Our Lady in a beautiful crowning ceremony. Songs honoring Mary- such as Immaculate Mary and Gentle Woman were sung, a prayer service was led by seventh graders, and students presented Mary with flowers. After a rainy week, the crowning was held under sunny, peaceful skies. Mrs. Algieri, SJA religion coordinator and third grade teacher, spoke eloquently on how we can always find Mary in our hearts.
